Airbags used to be deployed with such an explosive force that there was a risk of injuring the very people they were meant to protect. Advances in technology have made airbags even safer since they deploy with much less force. 

There are also many traction control systems and all wheel drive options that can make your car more stable and less likely to skid and lose control in slippery conditions. 

To find the safest car today your first step is to determine what type of vehicle you need. Once you narrow down the type of vehicle you want; SUV, sedan, mini van, etc. you can compare safety features from one make to another. That is the only way to really determine the safest car for you. 

It doesn't do you much good to find the safest two seat convertible if you really need a full sized van. So make sure you compare apples to apples. 

You can easily go online and do some research to find the safest car today in the make and model that you and your family need. You will get more safety features at the high end of your price range, but today even the basic models have a ton of safety features standard. You can keep your family safe even if you don't have deep pockets, which is the way it should be.
