Brazil: The Beef, Bibles and Bullets that Elected Bolsonaro

Storyline: When Jair Bolsonaro was elected president this fall, it was with the support of Brazil's most conservative forces: the Christian right, the military and the landowners. With a program against abortion and same-sex marriage but for traditional family structures, the right to carry weapons and an expanded exploitation of the Amazon, Brazil is moving towards an increasingly repressive policy where dissidents are labeled as terrorists and where military and police powers are extended.
