Storyline: Despite secretly being a convict who has broken parole, Jean Valjean promises a Bishop he will change his life. He becomes an upstanding citizen and adopts an orphan, raising her as his daughter. Constantly in danger of being exposed and sent back to prison, he stays one step ahead of the police Inspector who is obsessed with capturing him.
