Storyline: The clerk of Nuremberg wants to use his position to marry the young Evchen, but she does not love him and to avoid this marriage she asks the village shoemaker to ask for her hand in marriage. But everything becomes complicated when a nobleman of noble birth appears who has fled from his family castle.
