Overview: Rai Bahadur Bhujanga Choudhury married Smritikana many years after the death of her first wife. Often she remembers the incidents in her previous life and she behaves in extremely unnatural way. Tanima (Suchitra Sen) is the daughter of Bhujanga from his first marriage. Tanima takes his stepmother Smritikana to the hospital for treatment. There Tanima fell in love with the Doctor Ashok (Uttamkumar) who was treating Smritikana. When she saw Dr. Ashok first time, Smritikana behaved in an weird way and she thought Ashok is his Son. Although in love with Tanima, Ashok refused to marry her because he himself is an orphan and doesn't know his parents. One day while Dr. Ashok was talking to his senior Dr (who looked after Ashok since his childhood) and Tanima, suddenly they heard some people chasing a thief (Gurudas). When the thief entered, Smritikana devi saw him and instantly recognized him as Gurudas. Then the story from her previous birth unfolded.
