Capogna began his career directing short films and documentaries, gaining critical attention for his short film Comici, presented at the Venice Film Festival in 1955. He made his feature film debut with Un eroe del nostro tempo (1960), followed by Le conseguenze (1964) and Plagio (1969). His films often explored psychological and social themes, contributing to the Italian cinematic landscape of his time. Capogna passed away in Rome in 1977 at the age of 50.
