Biography: Venezuelan filmmaker born in Caracas in 1959. Nominated for the Goya, he has received awards in Havana, Biarritz, Cartagena, Sochi, Trieste, Berlin, San Sebastián, Sundance, and Montreal. In Venezuela, he has won the Premio Nacional de Cine, municipal award, critics’ award, authors’ award, and, on several occasions, best film, screenplay, direction, and audience award at the Mérida, Margarita, Oriente, and International Caracas festivals. With more than fifty television titles, he has worked on miniseries, feature films, and soap operas in his country, as well as in Mexico and Peru.

Overview: "Al Borde de la Línea" is the story of Claudia, a 16-year-old girl who works as a chambermaid in a rundown hotel where she is sexually abused by Rodriguez, the owner. She decides to escape with the help of her friend Alma, an older woman who is also a maid and Salvador, the driver of the morgue's van who is desperately in love with her. The night they have planned the escape, everything changes. Claudia runs away with Juan, a singer she met that day in the hotel's bar.
