Biography: Gerald Rudolph Ford was the 38th President of the United States. He became President upon the resignation of President Richard Nixon on August 9, 1974. Gerald Ford became Vice-President in 1973, after the resignation of Vice-President Spiro Agnew. He became the first President to have served both as President and Vice-President and was never elected to either office.
