Overview: Duk-bae is a seasoned Dasiraegi performer who puts on a stage play-like ritual that ushers the dead into the next life and comforts the bereaved family. His estranged daughter Su-nam comes back home with her child Flower when she hears of her grandmother’s passing after leaving Jindo 20 years ago. Flower is initially scared of her grandfather, but Duk-bae soon opens his heart to the little girl. Su-nam’s trauma kicks in whenever she hears cicadas' crying that she heard when she witnessed her mother committing suicide as a child. Finally, Duk-bae begins the last Dasiraegi of his life to save Su-nam who has been driven to the cliff of life without any hope.
Overview: Commissioned by South Korea's National Human Rights Commission, If You Were Me is an innovative omnibus film project to promote tolerance and human rights and shed light on the hardships disadvantaged people face in Korea. After the success of the first anthology, a second series, If You Were Me 2, was released this year. Five notable Korean directors - Park Kyung Hee (A Smile), Ryoo Seung Wan (Crying Fist), Jung Ji Woo, Jang Jin (Guns & Talks), and Kim Dong Won - participated in the second installment, creating shorts on human rights issues of their choosing.
Digital Short Film Omnibus Project Twentidentity, Vol. 1
Overview: In order to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Korean Film Academy, 20 of the academy's former students (who are respected director's today) were invited to shoot an omnibus movie consisting of 20 short films. Overall this work was very well received by the critiques at the 17th Tokyo International Film Festival. Films include Under a Big Tree, Sutda, Twenty Millimeter Thick, Innocence, *?!#@$ Up Shoes, Twenty Questions, The Twenty's Law, To the 21st, Pass Me and Alone Together.
Overview: Hyun-soo is a skillful individual stock investor, so-called ‘ant’. One day, he cashes in up seventy thousand dollars through stock trading and this jackpot gets him implicated in a $60 million stock manipulation by scam artists from various fields. With a huge pot of money before their eyes, the scam seems to be perfectly unfolding. But another scam is emerging underneath team as the scammers chase each other and are being chased at the end.
