Overview: The third film adaptation of Selma Lagerlöf's novel of the same name. The drinker David Holm gets killed right on the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve will face the death coachman, which happens to be his old friend Georges. Together, reliving the events of the past, and David becomes aware that he ruined the lives of two women who both loved him.
