Overview: Mulyono returns to his village, Tembarak, after serving time in Nusakambangan prison. His village is in the midst of a village headman election. There are two strong candidates with opposite attitude. One believes that any means is justifiable while the other one follows the straight road. Mulyono finds his wife murdered. She was previously suffering from a mental illness. His daughter is missing and his son is now a criminal. Mulyono then becomes the scapegoat in the village riot during the election. Eventually he clears his name. Then he meets his daughter who is ready to marry the future village head while he captures his son who is willing to be imprisoned.

Overview: Slamet, a reporter, begins a relationship with Wulandari, a dancer and painter. But Wulan’s mother does not approve of their relationship. Slamet, who is naïve, energetic, and comes from the village, then meets Donna, a Manado girl who has a free attitude, at a street-side restaurant in Malioboro. Donna is interested in Slamet, causing Slamet to become indecisive. Wulan happens to see Donna and Slamet together, and starts to trail him. Then Donna feels cheated when she sees Slamet’s clothes at Wulan’s house. Later, a misfortune happens to Slamet when he is hit by a motorcycle and is hospitalised. Then Slamet returns to Wulan with Donna’s encouragement. The film is also a commentary about the changing social values in Yogyakarta: such as the intimate acts between Wulan and Slamet in Wulan’s room; the boarding house that has more relaxed rules than usual; and the busy street of Malioboro.

Overview: Legend about Loro Jonggrang's love story with Bandung Bondowoso. When he was newly appointed as Senopati Baka, he was assigned to attack the Pengging Kingdom. However, while he was there, he was recognized as the crown prince of Pengging, who had apparently been kidnapped by the Baka people when he was still a child. The angry King Baka personally led an attack on Pengging and was killed by Bandung Bondowoso. The son of the Baka king, Loro Jonggrang saw his father die and held a grudge against Bandung Bondowoso. When Bandung Bondowoso was about to propose, Loro Jonggrang also put forward a condition to build a thousand temples. When there was one less temple, Loro Jonggrang made the cock crow as if it was morning. Bandung, knowing that Loro Jonggrang was cheating, cursed it, making it the thousandth and largest temple.
