Overview: Dedi (Dede Yusuf), who married Menul (Ayu Azhari), when they were very young, tries to make a living as a clown at an amusement park. This job does not pay enough for him to make ends meet, so he and a number of his friends try to find a way out of the poverty they are trapped in. The opportunity comes when they find a the wallet of a wealthy man, who is impressed when they return it to him, and provides them with the capital to open a food stall, which they use as a stepping stone toward opening a restaurant. Through this story, the director, Chairul Raya, attempts to depict the way of life of the poor, while using the subplot of the love story between the clown and his wife to display his disdain for the mainstream tendencies in the Indonesian film industry. This film is at once moving and humorous.

Overview: Disappointed after seeing his homeland, Pasai, destroyed by the Portuguese, Fadhilah Khan, later known as Fatahillah or Fala Tehan, completes his education in the Holy Land, then joins Sultan Trenggono who rules the Sultanate of Demak. He gains a respectable position as a cleric, then marries the sister of the Emperor, Ratu Pembayun, and Ratu Ayu, the widow of Pati Unus, who died in the battle against the Portuguese in Malacca. The Portuguese want to establish a fort at Sunda Kelapa. But the Sultanate of Demak is determined to wage a war against the Portuguese. Fatahillah is elected as the commanding officer, and he conquers Sunda Kelapa, and changes its name to Jayakarta, which later became Jakarta.

Overview: Darma (Deddy Mizwar), the owner of several companies, suddenly appoints his horse trainer, Ucha (Cok Simbara), as director of one of his businesses that was previously managed by old friends of Darma from the revolutionary period. Ucha attempts to revamps the company as expected, but his efforts are all undermined by Darma’s old friends. Ucha also runs into trouble at home, when his chubby wife lets his new position as director and her status as wife of the director go to her head. She is insistent that she needs a makeover and that their house needs upgrading in line with their new social status. As these various conflicts reach a head, Ucha finally confronts Darma with the reality of his friends’ betrayal, and threatens to quit. Darma understands the situation, but cannot bring himself to fire his old friends.

Overview: Astri’s mother demands angrily for a porn-video cassette that embarrasses the son-in-law Dedi, and the two grandchildren. Mother also gossips with the neighbours and even protests by not eating. To cap it all, she wants to marry Item, the blind masseur whom she often hires. She is actually seeking attention and therefore wants to remarry. In desperation, she even runs away from home. Her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren miss her. In the end, she returns, and her daughter and son-in-law finally agree to her demands. All the acts and behaviour of the mother are comedy moments in the film.
