Overview: In a small provincial town, just before the New Year, something went wrong. A young doctor falls in love with a Moscow singer who has come on tour and for her sake enters into a fight with the local bohemian youth... A grocery store saleswoman accidentally kills a customer and, together with her ex-boyfriend, tries to get rid of the body... Overview: The naïve Maris joins the Wehrmacht during the Nazi occupation of the Baltic states, together with his brother and several others from the village. The barracks are in a monastery, and Maris – whom everyone views as a fool – seems to consider his fate a religious calling.
