Biography: Jorge Lorenzo Guerrero (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈxoɾxe loˈɾenθo ɣeˈreɾo]; born May 4, 1987 in Palma, Balearic Islands, Spain), is a Spanish professional motorcycle road racer who announced his retirement from road racing competition in late 2019. He won the 2006 and 2007 250cc World Championships, and the 2010, 2012 and 2015 MotoGP™ World Championship. In the premier class he rode exclusively for factory teams, riding for Yamaha from 2008 to 2016, for Ducati from 2017 to 2018, and for Repsol Honda in 2019. During a difficult 2019 plagued by major injuries, he announced that he would be retiring at the end of the 2019 season after only one year at Repsol Honda, cutting short his original contract.

Overview: The Official Review of the 2019 MotoGP™ World Championship 2019 saw Marc Márquez take a record 420 points as he secured his eighth World title overall and his fourth consecutive MotoGP™ World Championship. It was also the year fans got to salute Jorge Lorenzo as the three-time World Champion called an end to his stellar MotoGP™ career. As one hero exited the pitlane, it looked as if another was entering. France’s Fabio Quartararo, aged just 20, took seven podium finishes and six pole positions in his first year of the premier class, securing fifth place in the World Championship overall. Andrea Dovizioso continued to impress on the Ducati and Maverick Viñales and Álex Rins led the charge for Yamaha and Suzuki respectively, so the season ended with four different manufacturers in the top four spots. Overview: When the 2008 MotoGP season burst into action, it had been two years since Valentino Rossi had ruled as the World Champion - both 'The Doctor' and his Yamaha team had had enough of being second best. The second year of the 800cc era saw the tables turned, as Rossi imposed his speed, skill and personality on the championship. He emerged triumphant, dominating 2007 World Champion Casey Stoner and the rest of the 18-strong field as he raced to victory after victory, and yet another World Championship.
