With so many banks around these days you should be able to find one that offers checking and perks you can earn or that just come along with the account you choose to open.
One of the very first things people look for when opening a new account is free checking and perks you can earn would be if the same account offered to pay interest on the money you keep there.
The trick is to find an interest bearing account that needs no minimum balance or one that the minimum balance is low.
Other things you can look for as options on an account are things like no ATM fees and fees that get reimbursed to you from using other ATMs and no overdraft fee charges.
This option may only be available with an online bank and may require a credit check and credit approval before you can open one of these accounts.
How about free online bill pay? This can be a plus not having to write out checks or running all over paying bills. You can do it right from your computer whenever you want.
Many banking institutions are now attempting to go paperless and you may get rewarded if you decide to get your statements online instead of sent to you in the mail.

You may have to agree to and fulfill your end of the bargain before they automatically deposit the money. I know of one bank that has offered $50.00 and another bank that has offered up to $125 for those who wish to open an account.
It would be a great idea to visit more than one bank if you are looking to open a new account to see what kinds of things they can do for you. You can even do some searching and comparing online before visiting the bank.
Choose an online bank and you wouldn't have to go anywhere at all, you could open your account in your underwear.
